Join us for the official W3 festival kick-off celebration with a fabulous, multi-course, wine-paired dinner. Hosted by Skip Worden, Executive Chef of The Westin Jekyll Island and The Westin culinary team for a feast for all the senses! This is a very limited seating event.

 

Celebrity Guest Chef Whitney Otawka will be creating a special recipe from her new cookbook, The Saltwater Table. Each couple and/or individual ticketed guest will receive an autographed copy of Whitney's new book!

Location: Jekyll Island Historic District Wharf

This popular event was an early sell-out last year. Guests will delight in this Whiskey Wine & Wildlife wine cruise with Captain Phillip. Tour the enchanting waters that surround Jekyll Island and engage in this most unique wine tasting experience. The cruise will embark at 11:00 am from the public wharf located opposite the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. Along with the wine tastings, guests will be able to indulge in some light food preparations as they experience a different perspective of beautiful Jekyll Island, coupled with the insights and "local" knowledge that only Captain Phillip can render.

Whiskey Wine & Wildlife will present a series of 4 educational classes and seminars, presented by a selection of our participating talent. Our W3 Master Class Pours will appeal to all persons whether you are a novice, an expert or just someone who enjoys the opportunity to get up close and personal with these talented masters and have a little fun. Not to be missed, these classes sell out quickly and have limited ticket availability.

Tickets: $50 per person, per class.

2:00 pm: Class 3: “Crab Rice Perloo”

Hosted By:

Chef Clayton will demonstrate some traditional cooking techniques to recreate a Gullah/Geechee and Lowcountry and Coastal favorite recipe – using sustainable seafood and the freshest ingredients available.

Event: “Food & Wine Pairing Dynamics”

This very special educational offering is an opportunity for wine lovers to discover the art and science of “Food & Wine Pairings”. Guests will be guided through a systematic approach of seven steps to taste any wine, along with carefully prepared culinary small plates to taste with several different wines from La Crema Winery. Food & Wine Pairing Dynamics is an interactive session where guests will get to examine wine to assess all its qualities, involving the sense of sight and smell as well as taste. Vince Barrett, Vice President of Food & Beverage for New Castle Hotels & Resorts will lead the session, guiding attendees through the sequence demonstrated and pausing to consider each impression, which in turn will heighten awareness of the wine’s attributes.

 

In addition, guests will learn how to pair wines with all types of cuisine and food characteristics. And a fantastic takeaway – guests will get to take home a one of a kind booklet for future pairing references, with helpful tables and overview of the entire session. This session is a very limited seating opportunity, entirely separate from the W3 Master Classes. It has been created as a special fundraising opportunity for the Jekyll Island Foundation.

The grand finale brunch will be the Westin’s culinary team showcase – with Champagne, whiskey cocktails, Bloody Mary Bar, culinary delights and more, enjoy our legendary finale, all the while taking in the laid back beach vibe.

NOTE: Brunch seating tickets will be on a first come, first served basis. Groups of 6+ should make advance reservations to ensure same table seating. Seatings will be staged by the following times:

Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife is a culinary destination weekend with collaboration between The Westin Jekyll Island, the Jekyll Island Authority and The AdFish Group.  The weekend’s events will raise funds and awareness for programs of the Jekyll Island Foundation, with a mission of conservation, education and historic preservation efforts on Jekyll Island.
